Tehran, Ashgabat mull over road transport cooperation

TEHRAN – An Iran-Turkmenistan meeting on expansion of road transport cooperation on the deputy transport ministers level was held in Ashgabat during which the two countries explored avenues of mutual cooperation, IRNA reported on Friday.

According to Davoud Keshavarzian, the head of Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization, during this event the two sides stressed the significance of ever more expansion of bilateral transport ties considering the Ashgabat agreement, a multimodal transport agreement between Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Oman and Pakistan for creating an international transport and transit corridor facilitating transportation of goods between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.
